Serve as a key strategic partner to the Managing Director, driving operational effectiveness, internal coordination, and leadership support across the foundation
Organize and streamline internal processes, track critical initiatives, manage planning cycles, and ensure teams are aligned and delivering
Design and lead regular team meetings, daily standups, and internal check-ins
Create and manage systems for project tracking, OKRs, and cross-team accountability
Ensure Slack, Notion, and other internal tools are organized, up to date, and useful
Oversee progress toward deliverables and keep stakeholders aligned and on track
Drive improvements to internal processes and workflows, recommending adjustments as needed
Maintain visibility into all active initiatives across teams and support coordination between technical, program, and leadership functions
Hire and manage project or program managers as the organization grows; design and lead planning sessions, offsites, and away days as needed
Act as a sounding board to the Managing Director; surface risks, blind spots, and missed opportunities and contribute to leadership planning
Assist with communication across internal and external stakeholders; prepare materials and facilitate discussions
Success measured by teams aligned and delivering on time, efficient internal tools and systems, supported leadership, clear communication, and smooth company rituals/processes
Requirements
Strong background in project and program management, with experience in consulting or agency practices. Although Walrus Foundation does have have Clients it does require someone with experience of consequences of missing deadlines, how to kick off workstreams and progress them in a timely and focused manner, with a sense of urgency
Experience in startup environments helpful to demonstrate an understanding of perfect is the enemy of good, but judgement in what does need to be high calibre and what can evolve over time is essential
Demonstrated ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects on tight timelines
High emotional intelligence and confident interpersonal skills
Comfortable stepping into a range of responsibilities — from running meetings to unblocking teams
Excellent organizational habits and attention to detail
Experience with planning frameworks (OKRs, KPIs) and common tools (Slack, Notion, dashboards)
Experience of communicating and managing many different stakeholders, at different levels, all with different priorities and calls on their attention
Ability to put together good looking and thoughtful presentations and documents quickly
Experience in Web3, crypto, or open-source ecosystems (preferred)
Familiarity with team operations, leadership planning, and internal tooling design (preferred)
Prior experience in a Chief of Staff, BizOps, or operations-focused leadership role (preferred)
