About the role
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institution leadership, senior management, business, and academic units
- Lead IT planning and alignment by developing and executing a comprehensive IT Strategic Plan aligned with institutional priorities
- Stay current on IT trends and best practices and seek opportunities to improve technological capabilities
- Ensure IT initiatives, projects, and funding are approved and prioritized through participation in IT governance
- Function as steward of budgets and resources by planning and delivering on a multi-year plan for optimal ROI
- Provide leadership and management for vendor negotiations, vendor partnerships, and delivery while adhering to institutional guidelines
- Develop and recommend information technology policies for acquisition, use, security, and cost-effective application of technology
- Lead an IT team of approximately 10 individuals overseeing infrastructure, systems, enterprise applications, classroom spaces, and help/service desk support
- Lead the security and integrity of all IT systems and data, implementing cybersecurity measures that comply with local, state, and federal regulations
- Research and evaluate new technologies for enhancements or upgrades to server, network, classroom, and other IT infrastructure equipment
Requirements
- Bachelor\'s degree in computer science, business, or related field
- 10+ years of experience leading IT initiatives in a college or university environment
- Demonstrated leadership traits and highly effective oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of higher education technologies and systems
- Experience with, and a broad understanding of higher education challenges and the application of technology solutions
- Experience in leading diverse groups to an agreed upon outcome aligned with institutional interests
- Demonstrated agility to respond to changing institutional priorities
- Ability to lead an organization through change and transformation
- Ability to lead and develop people and foster positive employee engagement and trust
- Ability to work in a politically-sensitive environment with various campus constituencies and competing goals
- Preferred: Master\'s degree
- Preferred: ITIL certification
- Preferred: Experience with or knowledge of service provision best practices (e.g. ITIL)
- Preferred: Experience in ERP optimization and implementation and project management
