About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build, lead, and develop a cross-functional team spanning business analysis, product ownership, engineering, and project management
- Define team structure, capacity plans, role expectations, performance reviews, and growth plans
- Establish and mature the BA/PO function for backlog ownership, requirements definition, and stakeholder alignment
- Own the enterprise payment processing technology roadmap across in-store, digital, and contact center channels
- Lead payments abstraction-layer architecture and govern API design, versioning, and observability standards
- Oversee integrations with payment processors, acquiring banks, gateway providers, and alternative payment methods
- Lead processor selection, onboarding, migration, certification, vendor relationships, and commercial negotiations
- Govern interchange optimization, settlement reconciliation, and dispute/chargeback processes
- Define and execute in-store payment terminal infrastructure strategy, including PCI PTS compliance, refreshes, certifications, and deployments
- Oversee EFT software deployments, POS payment integrations, and pin pad certifications
- Ensure PCI DSS compliance and drive tokenization, P2PE, network segmentation, audit readiness, and remediation
- Identify and mitigate payment-processing operational, technology, and fraud risks
- Sponsor and govern major payment programs, manage dependencies and risks, and communicate status to leadership
- Develop and manage operating and capital budgets, business cases, ROI, and cost optimization initiatives
- Define payment SLAs, uptime targets, KPIs, incident management, on-call protocols, continuity, and disaster recovery practices
- Drive automation and process improvement to reduce manual effort and improve throughput
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise payment systems, financial services technology, or fintech
- 5+ years of people management experience leading cross-functional technical or operational teams
- Deep knowledge of acquiring banks, payment networks, gateways, settlement, reconciliation, and transaction lifecycle management
- Experience leading enterprise-scale payment processor integrations, migrations, and certification programs
- Solid understanding of PCI DSS, payment security controls, tokenization, and encryption standards
- Ability to manage enterprise technology programs from inception through production operations
- Strong vendor management skills, including contract negotiation, SLA governance, and performance management
- Excellent communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management across technical and business audiences
- Preferred: cloud-native payment platform architecture and microservices-based integration patterns
- Preferred: omni-channel retail payments across point-of-sale, e-commerce, and contact center environments
- Preferred: Agile delivery methodologies, product management practices, and DevOps principles
- Preferred: large-scale POS terminal fleet deployments of 500+ devices
- Preferred: co-branded card programs, private label credit, or alternative payment/BNPL products
- Preferred: PCI ISA, CISM, or equivalent payment security or compliance certification
