About the role

  • Conceive, design, build, and launch new user-facing features
  • Lead development of new features and improvements for Cambly’s Student and Tutor experience
  • Optimize performance and ensure a smooth, high-quality teaching & learning experience
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to build product experiences
  • Maintain a high code quality product through code reviews, testing, and best practices
  • Deliver high-performance features while maintaining a robust, scalable codebase
  • Own frontend and backend platform work and technical ownership
  • Work on projects like tutor discovery, AI-generated classroom content, and post-lesson activities

Requirements

  • 3+ years of full-stack development experience
  • 2+ years of experience with React
  • Experience with NextJS, React, and TypeScript
  • Experience working with NoSQL databases like MongoDB
  • Experience with AWS and Flask backend technologies
  • Experience building and maintaining production systems using tools like Lighthouse, Sentry, New Relic
  • Good understanding of frontend technologies, patterns, and best practices
  • Good understanding of backend systems, patterns, and best practices
  • Passion for building products that have a real impact on users
  • Ability to commute to San Francisco 3x a week / reside in San Francisco Bay Area (hybrid)
