About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work with the wider team to develop Callen-Lenz flight control and simulation software.
  • Participate in software project teams to design and document software.
  • Communicate with stakeholders and other departments to ensure software meets requirements.
  • Model-based design of flight control software using Simulink or similar.
  • Develop the design and maintenance of autopilot simulation software.
  • Coordinate and contribute to flight performance studies.
  • Develop flight dynamics models for company products.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to define software requirements.
  • Review software source code and model designs.
  • Ensure regular testing and test recording to ensure correct operation of software.
  • Support the Project Manager in scoping, defining and estimating project tasks.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BSc or MSc degree in an Engineering related subject
  • Experience in designing and documenting control systems.
  • Deep understanding of aeronautics and control theory.
  • Experience of designing and documenting software.
  • Experience using MATLAB & Simulink.
  • Knowledge of a variety of programming languages and tools
  • Understanding of real time and embedded software.
  • Knowledge of safety related engineering practices.
  • Previous experience or interest in UAVs.
  • Must be a British Citizen or have an existing right to work in the UK.
  • Ability to commit to occasional national and international travel.
  • Ability to hold Security Clearance – 5 years residence in the UK.
