About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the global compensation function and team, and establish the strategic direction for all compensation programs, policies, practices, and governance activities worldwide.
- Serve as a primary compensation advisor to COLT, executive leadership, and Talent & Culture leadership on compensation strategy, talent compensation competitiveness, and compensation-related risk.
- Lead, coach, and develop the compensation team while creating a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, innovation, operational excellence, and continuous development.
- Own the design, governance, and administration of global compensation programs including salary structures, annual compensation reviews, incentive compensation, bonus programs, recognition programs, geographic pay programs, and equity compensation.
- Assist the Associate VP Total rewards for executive compensation, including market benchmarking, executive pay analysis, peer group assessments, executive employment arrangements, and executive compensation recommendations.
- Assist with development of materials, analyses, and recommendations supporting the Compensation Committee and Board of Directors.
- Lead development of analyses, recommendations, and materials supporting the Compensation Committee and Board of Directors.
- Establish and evolve Calix’s compensation philosophy and ensure compensation programs remain competitive, equitable, scalable, and aligned with business objectives.
- Lead job architecture, job leveling, career framework, and market pricing strategies to ensure consistency and competitiveness across the organization.
- Direct annual compensation planning processes, including merit, promotion, equity, and incentive planning cycles while ensuring alignment with financial and talent objectives.
- Partner with Finance to evaluate compensation investments, workforce planning initiatives, and compensation-related financial impacts.
- Ensure compliance with global compensation regulations and emerging legislation, including pay transparency, equal pay, executive compensation disclosure, and other compensation-related requirements.
- Identify market trends and emerging best practices, recommending strategic enhancements to compensation programs and policies.
- Oversee compensation technology solutions, data analytics, reporting capabilities, and process improvements to increase efficiency, scalability, and decision-making effectiveness.
- Provide compensation leadership for mergers, acquisitions, organizational redesigns, expansion into new countries, and other strategic business initiatives as needed.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 15+ years of progressive compensation experience, including substantial experience in the technology industry.
- 7+ years of experience leading compensation teams and developing compensation professionals.
- Deep expertise in global compensation strategy, executive compensation, equity programs, incentive design, market pricing, and compensation governance.
- Extensive experience supporting compensation programs within a publicly traded company environment.
- Significant executive compensation experience, including Compensation Committee and Board-level support.
- Previous Board meeting preparation and presentation skills as well as CD&A experience.
- Strong experience with compensation survey providers and market pricing tools such as Aon/Radford, Mercer, or WTW.
- Strong interest and desire to apply AI to compensation programs.
- Strong Workday and Bettercomp compensation administration experience.
- Exceptional analytical, financial modeling, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation preferred.
- Requires 15% travel and periodic attendance at in-person meetings.
