About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the strategic reference for Life Insurance and Pension underwriting, supporting business, operations, sales and leadership in decision-making related to risk acceptance and portfolio governance.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, digital transformation and underwriting process optimization, proposing solutions that increase operational efficiency, improve the customer experience, and enhance accuracy and speed in risk evaluation.
  • Lead studies and tests of new underwriting approaches, including the use of data, analytics, artificial intelligence, predictive models and alternative information sources to improve decision-making and business flow.
  • Actively participate in the company’s strategic and transformation projects, contributing technical insight and innovative proposals focused on sustainability, profitability and competitive advantage.
  • Perform technical analysis and underwriting of medium- and high-complexity risks, evaluating eligibility criteria in compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations.
  • Conduct technical studies to define, review and improve underwriting rules, policies and manuals, ensuring a balance between commercial competitiveness, profitability and risk control.
  • Provide consultative support to internal areas, clarifying questions related to underwriting criteria, products, coverages, contractual clauses, special risks and regulatory aspects.
  • Prepare technical opinions and recommendations for complex cases, supporting governance forums, committees and decision-making bodies.
  • Lead and validate system implementations related to underwriting processes, evaluating business rules, parameter settings, operational flows and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor underwriting and portfolio quality metrics, identifying trends, risk deviations, improvement opportunities and proposing corrective or preventive actions.
  • Conduct market studies, benchmarking and evaluations of new underwriting practices to achieve efficiency gains, automation and improved experience for internal and external customers.
  • Draft and review normative documents, manuals, operational procedures and training materials related to Life and Pension underwriting.
  • Act as the focal point interfacing with Product, Actuarial, Sales, Legal, Compliance, Technology, Operations and business partners, ensuring technical and regulatory alignment.
  • Produce executive presentations, management reports and technical materials to support leadership, committees and governance bodies.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and insurance market trends, assessing impacts on underwriting policies, processes and company products.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Business Administration, Economics, Law, Nursing, Engineering, Risk Management, Finance or related fields.
  • Solid experience in Life and/or Pension underwriting, with hands-on experience in analyzing and accepting risks of varying complexity and knowledge of applicable legislation (SUSEP / CNSP).
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, process management and digital transformation.
  • Familiarity with automated underwriting processes, decision engines and risk analysis tools.
  • Clear and assertive communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to translate technical concepts into accessible language for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary environments with multiple stakeholders and simultaneous demands.
  • Experience with portfolio metrics, claims analysis and actuarial studies applied to underwriting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint for analyses and executive presentations.
