About the role
- Primary accounting contact for assigned clients, providing ongoing client management and advisory
- Lead recurring client calls (monthly/bi-weekly) to review financials and explain results in clear, non-technical language
- Identify key issues (cash flow, margins, variances, compliance) and recommend actionable next steps
- Own full-cycle accounting and month-end close, including reconciliations, revenue recognition, AP/AR review, payroll entries, accruals, and prepaids
- Prepare accurate monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and management reports
- Maintain strong workpapers and documentation supporting all balances and adjustments
- Work primarily in QuickBooks Online, adhering to firm SOPs for bookkeeping and close
- Identify and resolve errors in client books; lead cleanup and correction projects
- Recommend process improvements and automations to increase efficiency and consistency
- Collaborate with bookkeeping teams (onshore and nearshore) to ensure timely, high-quality delivery
- Review delegated work and provide constructive feedback
- Consistently use and contribute to firm templates, checklists, and SOPs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on accounting experience, with progressive growth up to Senior Accountant role
- Direct experience preparing monthly financial statements for small to mid-sized businesses
- Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online (multi-entity, classes, projects or similar)
- Solid Excel/Google Sheets skills (vlookup/index-match, pivot tables, basic modeling)
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP for small businesses
- Demonstrated ability to clean up messy books (unreconciled accounts, misclassifications, prior-period issues)
