About the role
- Research and respond to maintenance related technical feedback report submissions and other special projects from Military Sealift Command (MSC)
- Research and respond to maintenance related technical feedback report submissions with MSC's Shipboard Automated Maintenance Management System (SAMM) contents and Vessel Configuration
- Identify mission critical equipment and conduct fleetwide Class Specific Items/Cross Class Specific Items (CSI/CCSI) review to ensure proper maintenance alignment between Work Items and SAMM Database
- Receive feedback reports from ships or direct tasking for maintenance related special projects
- Perform analysis and/or recommend various solution sets to MSC personnel for review and approval using experience and supplied technical documentation
- Execute various modifications to maintenance plans and procedures following MSC approval
- Occasional technical ship visits and up to 10% continental US travel
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Confidential
- BS Degree in engineering or naval architecture program
- 6 years of post-graduate marine, power, or manufacturing plant technical experience
- If no degree: 10 years or equivalent technical experience in Naval Architecture, Marine or other Naval Engineering work
- 6 years of commercial or Navy experience with an emphasis on maintenance concepts, programs and procedures
- Familiarity with commercial ship operations, maintenance concepts, programs and procedures
- NAVSEA Level I Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Training or equivalent covering requirements of MIL-P-24534A (opportunity to obtain will be provided immediately upon hire)
- Familiarity with shipboard systems and their maintenance
- Ability to research and communicate effectively with coworkers, MSC personnel, and other entities to gather data and resolve feedbacks / special projects in a timely fashion
- Occasional technical ship visits may be required
- Desired: Active DoD Secret clearance
- Desired: Familiarization with Navy and MSC maintenance and logistics programs
- Up to 10% travel (Continental US)
