About the role
- Overall responsibility for the Compliance & Legal function at national and international levels
- Development, implementation and continuous improvement of a company-wide Compliance Management System (CMS)
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements (including corporate law, contract law, employment law, data protection, antitrust and export control law, anti-corruption and whistleblower protection)
- Comprehensive legal advice to executive management and business units
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating national and international contracts
- Management and coordination of external legal advisors and law firms domestically and internationally
- Development and delivery of compliance training for managers and employees
- Maintenance and oversight of internal policies and regulations
- Support for M&A projects, joint ventures and international expansions
- Conducting risk analyses and overseeing internal investigations
- Regular reporting to executive management and relevant committees
Requirements
- Degree in Law (First and Second State Examinations) or an equivalent qualification
- Several years of relevant professional experience in legal and/or compliance, ideally in an internationally active mid-sized company or a commercial law firm
- Solid knowledge of German and international business law
- Proven experience in building and developing compliance structures
- Excellent written and spoken German and English skills
- High integrity, a strong sense of responsibility and trustworthiness
- Assertiveness combined with diplomatic tact
- Structured, independent and solution-oriented working style
- Strong communication skills across all levels of the organization
- Intercultural competence and willingness to travel internationally
