Technical Instructor
Butler MachineryTechnical Instructor developing and delivering training for technicians at Butler Machinery. Focused on equipment safety, maintenance, and technical excellence.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, update, and deliver instructor-led and virtual training courses covering equipment safety, maintenance, repair, operation, diagnostics, and programming.
- Conduct technical training programs while promoting Butler's safety standards, values, and best practices.
- Evaluate participant performance and provide feedback to managers and company leadership.
- Prepare training materials, manuals, handouts, presentations, and equipment needed for classes.
- Coordinate with dealership departments to secure machines, tooling, and resources for training events.
- Assist with technician development initiatives such as Tech Wars, Parts Wars, Summer Service Kickoff, and other employee development programs.
- Maintain current knowledge of equipment systems and product lines through supplier training, research, and continuing education.
- Collaborate with the training team to identify training needs and maintain an annual training calendar.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Trade school education or equivalent hands-on technical experience.
- Mechanical experience with agricultural and/or construction equipment product lines.
- Strong understanding of:
- Electrical systems and troubleshooting
- Hydraulic systems and troubleshooting
- Powertrain systems and troubleshooting
- Engine systems and troubleshooting
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and software programs.
- Basic understanding of computer operation and machine programming related to equipment diagnostics and training.
- Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets company insurability requirements.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Four-year degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Caterpillar CIAP Certification.
- Strong Technical Foundation: Experience with engines, hydraulics, powertrain, and electrical systems.
- Previous training, coaching, mentoring, or instructional experience.
