About the role
- Manage the full lifecycle of fixed assets, including acquisition, capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and disposals (including GAAP and Federal/State Tax books)
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset subledger with the general ledger
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes related to fixed assets
- Prepare and review depreciation schedules and journal entries
- Manage and mentor fixed asset accounting staff
- Prepare annual depreciation budget, monthly forecast projections along with 5- and 10-year projections for both GAAP and tax books
- Analyze capital expenditures and provide reporting to support financial planning and decision-making
- Partner with procurement, finance, and operations teams to ensure proper asset classification and tracking and resolve discrepancies between physical asset inventories and fixed assets ledger
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and analysis
- Develop and maintain internal controls and procedures for asset management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
- 5+ years of accounting experience with a focus on fixed assets
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and fixed asset management principles
- Experience with ERP systems (Oracle Fixed Assets, Oracle Projects preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools such as Cognos Analytics and Noetix Views
