About the role
- On-Site Supervision of engineering work in either an office or a field setting.
- Act as Structure Representative for Caltrans to ensure compliance with the contract documents.
- Serve as primary liaison between project team, contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Conduct routine inspections of work, reviewing materials, work quality, and adherence to design.
- Draft contract change order and perform necessary calculations for adjustments.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies on-site.
- Maintain daily logs, inspection records, and other required documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in construction engineering.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Caltrans governing documents including the Bridge Construction Records & Procedures.
- Strong experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, utilities, and drainage systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) is required.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and quality control processes.
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities to support the project and client.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to negotiate with contractors for change orders and potential claims.
