Senior Payroll Specialist

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare and process multi-state U.S. and multi-province Canadian payrolls (salaried and hourly) on a bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly basis.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, provincial, and local laws regarding wages, deductions, taxes, and reporting requirements.
- Calculate, review, and validate retroactive payments, bonuses, garnishments, commissions, and other special pay types.
- Coordinate, review, and validate payroll inputs from HR, Time & Attendance systems.
- Investigate, validate, and resolve errors in payroll and accounting systems.
- Ensure overall accuracy and timeliness of payroll through thorough review and validation.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of end-to-end payroll experience in both U.S. and Canadian jurisdictions.
- Post Secondary Education in Business or related discipline
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. federal and state labor/payroll laws (FLSA, IRS regulations, etc.).
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation (Employment Standards, CRA, Service Canada, provincial regulations).
- Experience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP Workforce Now – Cross Border, ADP eTime, ADP Workforce Manager, Success Factors).
