About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage ongoing daily operations, sales and high-volume stock management within the specialist department
  • Report to the Operations Manager and Complex Manager
  • Lead and develop a team of 20+ team members
  • Perform duty manager responsibilities, including opening and closing the store
  • Build team capability in Best Experience and Safety Culture & Compliance
  • Manage team engagement, performance management and recognition
  • Roster and strategically plan the team to deliver the service promise
  • Drive department sales through merchandising and monitoring key metrics
  • Action customer feedback to improve the end-to-end customer experience
  • Own department stock accuracy, adjustments, replenishment discipline and loss prevention processes
  • Monitor and measure customer service levels
  • Liaise with Merchandising, Store Leadership, Health and Safety teams and suppliers
  • Work a minimum of 1 in 3 weekends and some public holidays

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be age 15 or over to apply
  • Previous experience leading teams in the retail industry or a large, high-volume customer-focused organisation
  • Experience with safety and wellbeing leadership
  • Experience with specialist products preferred
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire a large team of 20+
  • Ability to develop teams through coaching, engagement, performance conversations and recognition
  • Ability to champion a safe and secure environment and ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Experience opening and closing a store and supporting smooth trade across weekdays and weekends
  • Understanding of KPIs and customer expectations
  • Ability to deliver effective rostering and strategic planning
  • Knowledge of merchandising, sales performance, stock accuracy, availability and loss prevention
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 1 in 3 weekends and some public holidays
  • Background checks may be required, including police, employment, medical and qualification checks
