About the role

  • Assist in developing the communications strategy for public affairs campaigns
  • Work closely with clients to identify their needs or challenges and recommend targeted, bespoke solutions
  • Craft and carry messages, pitch reporters, developing written copy that inspires, synthesizing results into actionable solutions
  • Derive energy from working in a close-knit, cross functional team environment
  • Develop initial communications strategies for local, regional, national, and/or global audiences
  • Draft press releases, blogs, op-eds, briefing documents, organic content, and other communications materials with limited revision needed
  • Continue to develop and maintain relationships with influential media to secure and grow coverage
  • Pitch and secure press coverage for clients with ease
  • Plan and assist in executing events and key moments for clients

Requirements

  • 3+ years of public affairs, strategic communications or public relations experience, preferably in a communications agency, nonprofit, political or corporate communications setting
  • Exceptional presentation, writing and analytical skills and the ability to write both strategically and creatively under tight timelines
  • Proven project management experience
  • Strong writing and editing capabilities
  • Media relations experience and existing reporter relationships is a plus
  • Knowledge of AP style
  • Knowledge of Cision or Meltwater is a plus
