About the role
- Bruker Spatial Genomics (BSG), a subsidiary of Bruker, focused on developing spatial 3D genomics and multiomic analyses platform. Responsible for mechanical design and modifications of scientific instruments supporting sample preparation and imaging for 3D spatial genomics. Work closely with VP of New Product Development, Sr. Staff Opto-mechanical Engineer and Sr. Staff Systems Engineer to deliver products to desired specifications. Design and develop modular mechanical solutions and systems for next generation instruments. Perform prototype assembly and verification of mechanical assemblies. Specify and/or coordinate mechanical component design & fabrication with suppliers. Create subassembly and system specifications and test procedures. Direct offshore mechanical engineering design resources to complete required documentation.
Requirements
- Over 8 years of experience in Mechanical Design with a BS in Mechanical Engineering Direct experience with product commercialization Experience with Solidworks Proficiency with GD&T tolerancing Design experience with developing high tolerance assemblies consisting of machined components, sheet metal and molded parts Basic mechatronics- experience designing motorized 1stage assemblies Experience with product design incorporating fluid delivery for fluidics/micro-fluidics devices - Pressure and vacuum driven flow - Designing face and radial seals Hands on experience assembling and testing mechanical systems Experience in instrumentation development or other small desktop sized precision assemblies Demonstrated proficiency in presenting, written and verbal communication Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Adapts to changing priorities. Experience in both start up and large company environments. Drive for results. Embraces effective decision-making skills; uses good judgment and can bring closure to issues. Continually demonstrates reliability and delivery of measured results, executed with a sense of urgency.
