About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop skills to interact with company and retail agent personnel to establish positive relationships, increase revenues, and retain policies
  • Develop relationships with insurance agents, brokers, and carriers through sponsored events and internal/external sales meetings
  • Examine applications, inspection reports, insurance maps, and medical reports to determine risk
  • Request additional information and accept or reject risks according to company guidelines
  • Review, analyze, and underwrite risks submitted by Producers
  • Rate submissions for premium and terms and analyze exposures for new and renewal business
  • Issue written indications, quotes, and binders
  • Use inspection companies to obtain information, quote rates, or explain underwriting policies
  • Process new business efficiently to grow revenues and maintain retention and profitability
  • Leverage mentorship relationships when marketing and meeting retail agency customers
  • Foster relationships with departments, producers, companies, and competitors
  • Utilize binding authorities or broker risks to negotiate placements
  • Complete assigned educational courses, professional designations, and license examinations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Valid P&C license
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university or equivalent industry experience
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Exceptional telephone demeanor
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • 0–5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Must successfully complete and pass assigned educational courses, professional designations, and license examinations
