About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform all accounting activities for assigned captive insurance entities, including general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and customized financial and management reports.
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statement packages in accordance with GAAP, SAP, and modified GAAP, as applicable.
  • Monitor cash activity, investment activity, and intercompany transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and ad hoc financial analyses to support client and internal reporting needs.
  • Prepare and file regulatory submissions, including premium tax returns, NAIC Blank Forms, and other domicile-specific filings for captive insurance companies.
  • Serve as the primary accounting contact for regulatory matters across onshore and offshore domiciles.
  • Lead audit preparation and substantive review activities.
  • Coordinate and communicate with external service providers, including auditors, actuaries, and tax advisors.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within captive insurance, insurance, or financial services.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and insurance accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and client service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and enterprise accounting systems.
  • Preferred: CPA designation
  • Experience with captive insurance companies and multiple regulatory domiciles.
