About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler calculations for building projects.
- Interpret mechanical, plumbing, building, and fire codes for design application.
- Work with NFPA standards to design and check systems.
- Size ductwork, plumbing and fire sprinkler distribution systems in building structures.
- Use applicable software to draft and model HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler systems.
- Generate specifications for HVAC, plumbing and fire system equipment using software tools.
- Review HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler drawings/specifications and ensure they meet requirements.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to achieve project milestones.
- Flexibility to adapt and execute various additional assignments based on evolving needs.
- May provide mentorship, guidance, support, and knowledge-sharing to help less experienced team members develop their skills and grow within their roles.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Typically requires a minimum of 2 years of building mechanical engineering or related experience.
- Typically certified in the SMS Framework, and progressing through the SMS competencies.
- Adept at interpreting and applying mechanical, plumbing, building, and fire codes as well as NFPA standards.
- Proficient in using software for drafting and modeling HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler systems.
- Skilled in developing HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler calculations and specifications.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent experience is required.
- Has passed or is working towards passing the Fundamentals of Engineering exam required for Engineer in Training registration.
