About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Coordinate day-to-day clinical practice operations
Supervise practice clinical staff
Manage variability in census, acuity, staffing levels, and patient flow
Support staff in providing patient care
Assess and direct resource allocation
Function as a clinical resource for staff
Assign staff and delineate patient care
Participate in hiring, orientation, corrective action, annual reviews, and staff feedback
Validate the clinical skills of registered nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Medical Assistants
Create, review, and administer policies and procedures and ensure compliance
Provide weekly payroll updates
Manage clinical inventory, ordering, and narcotic inventory
Monitor immunizations and control vaccines
Provide in-services on new and existing equipment
Maintain OSHA, CLIA, MCIR, and other standards compliance
Manage difficult situations using diplomatic problem-solving skills
Encourage teamwork and individual accountability
Support the Practice Manager
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Diploma, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or advanced degree/licensure in a related specialty area
3 years of relevant and recent clinical experience
Current RN license or advanced specialty-specific license in good standing in Michigan
BLS certification required by completion of core orientation
PALS or ALS required for some RNs, unit specific
Previous experience leading and managing clinical staff preferred
Digestive Health: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred, with completion required within 8 years of hire
Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for Michigan
Skill encompassing all clinical aspects of practice management
Ability to work with and lead varied people
Independent decision-making and ability to work with customers in challenging situations
Ability to read, interpret, and analyze data from computer systems, reporting mechanisms, and equipment
Organization and prioritization skills
Knowledge of proper charting methods, including legible handwriting and prioritization
Excellent oral, face-to-face, telephone, and written communication skills
Ability to maintain positive rapport with leadership and providers
Highest level of confidentiality and tact when handling sensitive matters
Ability to give easily understood directions
High self-motivation, strong initiative, and effective communication skills
Ability to perform sustained computer or CRT work for 40–70% of the time
Ability to stand, walk, lift objects weighing 20 pounds or less, and assist with heavier patient-lifting tasks
