About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
  • Gather patient data and obtain vital information as directed
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, feeding, ambulation, turning, and repositioning
  • Answer call lights, phones, and intercom systems to determine patient needs
  • Prepare patients for surgery and procedures
  • Accompany patients to diagnostic tests and during discharge
  • Document findings accurately and promptly in the EMR
  • Participate in patient admissions and provide delegated technical care according to standards, protocols, procedures, and nursing guidelines
  • Maintain patient safety, cleanliness, comfort, controlled access, and hand hygiene
  • Serve and collect food trays; prepare, portion, label, and deliver NICU feedings when applicable
  • Restock supplies, manage tube-station deliveries, and deliver medications or items to the RN or medication room
  • Support unit goals, performance improvement, department maintenance, and Bronson’s Standards of Excellence
  • Cover shifts at Bronson LakeView Hospital and/or Bronson South Haven Hospital according to patient acuity and staffing needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
  • Previous experience preferred
  • CNA license preferred
  • Obtain BLS Certification by the end of the orientation period
  • Maintain BLS certification
  • For BCOM only: successfully complete the Certified Nurse Aide Exam within 4 months of hire
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge preferred
  • Proficiency in oral and written grammar, communication, and basic mathematics
  • Ability to commit to full-time orientation hours during the first 6–8 weeks of employment
  • Orientation consists of three 12-hour day shifts per week
  • Ability to lift bulky or moderately heavy weights up to 50 pounds and assist with heavier tasks through pushing, pulling, or handling materials and equipment
  • For NICU assignments: training in Unit Dose Feeds and compliance with hospital food safety and sanitation standards
  • For applicable Bronson LakeView Hospital and Bronson South Haven Hospital employees: complete the annual Word day CBL on swing beds
  • Ability to work at Bronson LakeView Hospital and/or Bronson South Haven Hospital based on patient acuity and staffing needs
