Underwriter II, Commercial Lines
BrokerLinkUnderwriter II evaluating risks and managing commercial lines for BrokerLink. Building client relationships and collaborating with internal teams for program success.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of business, evaluating and pricing risks within established program guidelines and authority limits
- Apply consistent underwriting strategies to drive profitable growth across program
- Quote, negotiate, and bind new business, renewals, and endorsements with a focus on scalability and operational efficiency
- Build and maintain strong relationships with insurers, clients, and key stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support program success and enhancements
- Ensure underwriting discipline and compliance with program rules, filings, and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to program development, including product design, pricing strategies, and process improvements
- Support team development through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and coaching
- Utilize internal systems for policy inquiries, electronic filing, underwriting, and rating transactions
- Some travel is required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 3+ years of commercial brokering or underwriting experience (program business is strongly preferred)
- RIBO licensed required
- Completion of CIP designation (or progress towards) is an asset
- Strong team player with a collaborative mindset
- Proven ability to mentor, coach, and support team members
- Strong relationship management skills with clients, insurers, and stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in client management, including handling inquiries, resolving issues, and supporting retention
- Great communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to manage high-volume workflows while maintaining accuracy and service standards
- Strong analytical and technical experience
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
