About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Complete patient vital signs, TB testing, and blood draws
  • Facilitate timely and efficient patient flow for the duration of patient visits
  • Perform administrative duties to support patient flow as assigned
  • Prepare specimens for shipping
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory and a sanitary, organized work environment
  • Provide input on treatment philosophy, treatment services, and patient care
  • Communicate with various teams regarding patient appointments
  • Attend required meetings and huddles and collaborate within the center team
  • Consult team members on lab testing, results, and patient issues
  • Ensure timely and accurate collection of laboratory specimens consistent with federal and state regulations
  • Review, post, and disseminate laboratory results promptly
  • Complete timely and comprehensive documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Maintain new and existing patient accounts, including insurance and billing information
  • Follow established treatment program policies and procedures and current medical standards and practices
  • Plan, assess, intervene, and evaluate patient needs using medical skills
  • Perform laboratory procedures in accordance with best practices under appropriate supervision

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly empathetic and compassionate support for patients’ recovery journeys
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of colleagues and patients
  • Problem-solving ability with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
  • Adaptability within a dynamic work environment
  • Technological capability and comfort operating multiple communication and documentation systems
  • Familiarity with MS Office software preferred
  • High degree of integrity and compliance with work standards and regulatory requirements
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 desired
  • Prior experience with harm reduction a plus
  • 2+ years of prior medical assistant experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to perform vital signs, TB testing, blood draws, specimen preparation, and laboratory procedures
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), insurance, and billing information
