About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Complete patient vital signs, TB testing, and blood draws
- Facilitate timely and efficient patient flow for the duration of patient visits
- Perform administrative duties to support patient flow as assigned
- Prepare specimens for shipping
- Maintain laboratory supply inventory and a sanitary, organized work environment
- Provide input on treatment philosophy, treatment services, and patient care
- Communicate with various teams regarding patient appointments
- Attend required meetings and huddles and collaborate within the center team
- Consult team members on lab testing, results, and patient issues
- Ensure timely and accurate collection of laboratory specimens consistent with federal and state regulations
- Review, post, and disseminate laboratory results promptly
- Complete timely and comprehensive documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
- Maintain new and existing patient accounts, including insurance and billing information
- Follow established treatment program policies and procedures and current medical standards and practices
- Plan, assess, intervene, and evaluate patient needs using medical skills
- Perform laboratory procedures in accordance with best practices under appropriate supervision
Requirements
What you’ll need- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Highly empathetic and compassionate support for patients’ recovery journeys
- Ability to work with a diverse population of colleagues and patients
- Problem-solving ability with a sense of urgency
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
- Adaptability within a dynamic work environment
- Technological capability and comfort operating multiple communication and documentation systems
- Familiarity with MS Office software preferred
- High degree of integrity and compliance with work standards and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with HIPAA and 42-CFR Part 2 desired
- Prior experience with harm reduction a plus
- 2+ years of prior medical assistant experience preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform vital signs, TB testing, blood draws, specimen preparation, and laboratory procedures
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR), insurance, and billing information
