About the role

  • Manage the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns, property taxes, and indirect taxes (sales, VAT, and transactional)
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and tax accounting requirements
  • Support transfer pricing documentation and compliance with intercompany arrangements
  • Assist in responding to federal, state, and local tax audits, working with external advisors and regulators as needed
  • Identify potential compliance risks and ensure processes are in place to maintain defensible tax positions
  • Maintain documentation to support tax positions and audit requirements
  • Support internal controls and ensure tax processes align with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in tax operations
  • Leverage tax systems, automation, and reporting tools to streamline compliance activities
  • Supervise and coach tax staff, supporting their professional development and performance
  • Manage work allocation and ensure timely delivery of tax filings and reporting obligations
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and Legal to support tax operations and reporting
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors and consultants to ensure quality and cost-effective service delivery
  • Oversee accurate preparation of tax disclosures for financial statements and internal management reports
  • Provide analysis to support operational decisions and compliance requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • CPA or equivalent preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in tax operations and compliance within a corporate environment (telecommunications experience preferred)
  • Have at least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in tax
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and tax accounting principles
  • Possess experience with indirect taxes (sales tax, VAT, transactional) and exposure to transfer pricing
  • Are proficient in tax and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) and Excel
  • Show strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate across teams to support business objectives
