About the role
- Manage the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns, property taxes, and indirect taxes (sales, VAT, and transactional)
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and tax accounting requirements
- Support transfer pricing documentation and compliance with intercompany arrangements
- Assist in responding to federal, state, and local tax audits, working with external advisors and regulators as needed
- Identify potential compliance risks and ensure processes are in place to maintain defensible tax positions
- Maintain documentation to support tax positions and audit requirements
- Support internal controls and ensure tax processes align with accounting policies and regulatory requirements
- Recommend and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in tax operations
- Leverage tax systems, automation, and reporting tools to streamline compliance activities
- Supervise and coach tax staff, supporting their professional development and performance
- Manage work allocation and ensure timely delivery of tax filings and reporting obligations
- Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and Legal to support tax operations and reporting
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors and consultants to ensure quality and cost-effective service delivery
- Oversee accurate preparation of tax disclosures for financial statements and internal management reports
- Provide analysis to support operational decisions and compliance requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
- CPA or equivalent preferred
- 7+ years of progressive experience in tax operations and compliance within a corporate environment (telecommunications experience preferred)
- Have at least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in tax
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and tax accounting principles
- Possess experience with indirect taxes (sales tax, VAT, transactional) and exposure to transfer pricing
- Are proficient in tax and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) and Excel
- Show strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
- Communicate effectively and collaborate across teams to support business objectives
