About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure daily plant operations remain within environmental requirements and comply with health, safety, and process safety management policies
- Participate in site-specific safety training, safety meetings, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, and Process Hazard Analysis
- Safely start up and shut down process equipment in a chemical manufacturing environment
- Monitor chemical plant process equipment and take action to mitigate hazards and optimize processes
- Adjust process controls, take routine readings, perform preventative and minor onsite maintenance, and troubleshoot operational problems
- Monitor and adjust equipment settings affecting production rate, product quality, and yield
- Record data, operating conditions, instrument readings, and flow rates to identify trends
- Monitor the asset from outside the unit, inside the asset, and in the control room using Rockwell PLC HMI screens
- Conduct periodic rounds to identify operational deviations and adjust instruments and equipment for proper flows, temperatures, pressures, and levels
- Participate in onsite projects that improve efficiency, mitigate risk, and reduce operating costs
- Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, vendors, engineering, and maintenance teams
- Train and share knowledge with others
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s degree in process technology or successful track record of process operator work experience onsite in a chemical manufacturing plant
- 2–4 years of process operator experience onsite in an industrial chemical manufacturing or related environment
- Thorough knowledge of common concepts and procedures used in chemical manufacturing operations
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to apply knowledge and skills to carry out written and diagrammed instructions
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to drive a forklift or other mobile equipment
- Ability to work a twelve-hour schedule with rotating shifts, overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends
- Must complete Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification at the start of employment if hired
- Temporary work authorization or need for sponsorship may disqualify employment
