About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee other field personnel on remote job sites
- Perform field testing and observations at remote job sites
- Assist field operations on remote projects with technician training and review
- Coordinate field observations with the engineering project lead
- Review field logs and soil samples for classification and boring log preparation
- Work independently on limited-scope assignments with Senior review
- Quality-review assigned staff work and resolve internal and external project quality issues
- Coordinate staff, resources, and workloads with regional operations
- Meet or exceed client expectations
- Support client relationships and power, renewables, and mission-critical market-sector goals
- Conduct geological field investigations, including mapping, sampling, and logging
- Analyze rock, soil, groundwater, and geophysical data
- Prepare technical reports, maps, and cross-sections
- Support renewable energy, infrastructure, and mission-critical projects
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Perform geotechnical field activities, including pile load testing, field electrical resistivity testing, and soil logging
- Communicate project progress and emerging issues to team members
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in geotechnical, civil, or related engineering field, or Geology required
- Two or more years of construction materials testing or geotechnical engineering experience preferred, but not required
- Previous experience with large-scale construction projects preferred
- Valid driver's license
- Expected travel of 60 to 90%
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Strong organization and customer service skills
- Ability to exceed client expectations in a time-critical/dynamic work environment
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
- Ability to create, maintain, and communicate project budgets
- Thorough understanding of pile load testing (PLT) procedure
