About the role

  • Execute deployments, activations and expansions of DWDM networks in metro, backbone and DCI environments.
  • Perform configuration, commissioning and testing of optical equipment (transponders, muxponders, FOADM, OADM, ROADMs and amplifiers).
  • Conduct optical testing and link validation (power, OSNR, spectrum, OTDR).
  • Support analysis of technical designs, network diagrams and optical maps, as well as registration in the relevant tools.
  • Troubleshoot issues during deployments and scheduled maintenance windows.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for technical alignment and execution of activities.
  • Prepare technical documentation, deployment reports and as-built records.

Requirements

  • Degree in Telecommunications Engineering/Technologist, Electrical Engineering, Computer Networks or related fields (completed or in progress).
  • Hands-on experience with DWDM networks and optical technologies.
  • Knowledge of ROADM architectures and Flex Grid concepts.
  • Experience with DWDM equipment from vendors such as Nokia, Huawei, Ciena, Infinera, Padtec, ZTE or similar.
  • Knowledge of OTN and Ethernet transport, optical modules, patch cords and connector polishing.
  • Experience with optical measurement tools (OTDR, OSA, power meter).
  • Ability to interpret technical projects and network diagrams.
