About the role

  • The Activity Therapist plays a vital role in enhancing the mental and emotional well-being of patients through structured therapeutic activities.

  • Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the holistic care approach, improving overall patient outcomes within the behavioral health setting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required; B.S. Degree in Behavioral Sciences preferred.
  • C.A.C. One (1) year of experience in an alcohol and drug treatment setting with direct patient contact preferred.
  • Must be able to walk, run, bend, and stand continuously for approximately 3 to 4 hours per 8-hour shift.
  • Must be able to see at 20/40 corrected in each eye and hear (hearing aid acceptable).
  • Must have a valid Alabama driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must transport patients in a company van and be able to help a handicapped patient in and out of the van.
  • Must be capable of administering CPR and being certified, and have knowledge of first aid.
  • Maintain records and have good communication skills.
  • Must be emotionally and physically capable of functioning under stressful situations.
  • If recovering, two years of continuous verifiable abstinence.
  • Must have good documentation skills.
