About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead communications and employee engagement for bp’s legal function, including ethics and compliance
  • Partner with the EVP Legal/General Counsel and leadership team on communications and engagement strategy
  • Advise on executive positioning, LinkedIn, and external speaking events
  • Draft executive notes, talking points, communications briefs, FAQs, and slides
  • Advise senior legal and finance leaders and coach them on effective employee engagement
  • Provide communications counsel during sensitive and business-critical issues and crises
  • Deliver campaigns promoting bp’s code of conduct, speak-up culture, and ethics and compliance programmes
  • Define communications approaches and develop content for organisational change, transformation programmes, and complex initiatives
  • Manage Viva Engage groups, intranet pages, Dotdigital email communications, and Teams webcasts
  • Use sentiment data, channel insights, and feedback to refine communications plans and content
  • Share outcomes and next steps with senior partners
  • Share expertise and best practice across the finance and legal communications team
  • Partner across the team to deliver priorities and contribute to team culture and capability building

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Extensive experience leading strategic business and change communications in large, complex, matrixed organisations
  • Ability to advise and influence executives and build trusted relationships across diverse partner groups
  • Strong project management, planning, and organisational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver at pace
  • Strong writing and editing skills, translating complex topics into compelling narratives
  • Ability to navigate sensitive, fast-moving, and high-pressure situations with composure and sound judgement
  • Resourceful approach balancing strategic advisory with hands-on delivery
  • Commitment to coaching and supporting colleagues
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Copilot, Teams events, SharePoint, and Viva Engage
  • Proficiency with Dotdigital tools
  • Experience using insights, analytics, and audience feedback to inform decisions and improve outcomes
