About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Set the strategic agenda for bp’s Mobility & Convenience Americas business
- Own development of the strategy, portfolio logic, capital-allocation logic, and supporting analytical rigor
- Translate enterprise and Customers-level strategy into actionable roadmaps with milestones, KPIs, and success measures
- Own a portfolio of high-impact initiatives, managing interdependencies and risk and delivering outcomes and value on time
- Direct advanced financial modeling, value assessment, benchmarking, market analysis, and scenario analysis
- Turn complex data into decisions for senior leaders
- Author and present strategic narratives for governance forums, performance reviews, and board-level updates
- Chair governance forums where responsible for the agenda
- Act as trusted thought partner to M&CA senior leadership on growth, portfolio choices, capital allocation, and competitive positioning
- Direct analysis of market dynamics, customer needs, regulatory and policy trends, and competitive developments
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing strategy team
- Partner across Operations, Finance, Digital, and M&CA leadership
- Develop and refine the M&CA strategy in alignment with bp’s Customers strategy, long-term value creation, and low-carbon ambitions
- Translate strategic priorities into clear plans and stay close to execution as conditions change
Requirements
What you’ll need- 10–15+ years of post-university experience
- Experience leading teams
- Strong foundation in top-tier management consulting, such as McKinsey, BCG, or Bain
- Subsequent oil & gas experience strongly preferred, ideally downstream fuels, retail fuels, convenience, or mobility
- Hands-on retail and/or convenience experience is nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant professional qualification
- MBA beneficial but not required
- Strategic judgment and hypothesis-driven problem structuring
- Ability to influence at the most senior levels
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
- Financial modeling, market assessment, scenario analysis, and synthesis
- Ability to lead teams and complex plans, coordinate stakeholders, and deliver outcomes at pace
- Strong written, verbal, and visual executive communication skills
- Ability to influence and align diverse teams and functions
- Understanding of customer dynamics, market trends, competitive landscapes, and relevant policy, ideally in energy, mobility, or retail
- Ability to regularly work from a core office location in Chicago, Louisville, or Cleveland, or another U.S. location subject to business needs
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
