About the role

  • To be accountable for the development and implementation of regional Base Oil sourcing strategy within the Base Oil supply market segment.
  • To develop and maintain deep relationships with business partners ensuring sourcing strategy supports local business strategy and vice versa.
  • To develop and maintain the relationship with regional suppliers and local relationship with global suppliers.
  • Handle the category across all 5 pillars of the procurement strategy aligned to business goals.
  • Give to development of base oil strategy, plans and priorities.
  • Course correct the category's evolving position based on the risk and opportunity using the procurement chessboard.
  • Subject matter expert for Base Oil category and maintaining key partner connectivity.
  • Track market developing an improvement plan to create more value from supply base interactions.
  • Define and meet performance measures for the category, reflecting business requirements and market opportunities.
  • Track levels of risk and provide management information on risk assessments and feedback to the Global Base Oil Director via agreed risk reporting mechanism.
  • Own the full sourcing process to ensure delivery of business plans and category strategies in collaboration with business partners.
  • Generate the supplier portfolio, select suppliers, and lead the supplier negotiation.
  • Integrate suppliers through the implementation of new contracts, ensuring efficient change management.
  • Maintain an outward focus on the supply base with pro-active, investigative supply market tracking and receptiveness to innovation and change instigated by suppliers.
  • Support and drive OD&I activities to promote supply and specification developments in line with business needs and supplier capabilities.
  • Ensure full compliance with all category, regulatory and BP corporate social, environmental and financial risk and HSE.
  • Support provision of timely supply market knowledge to the business, relaying current and future impactful events and their potential consequences.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider GSC and IST shipping to ensure no Base Oil stock outs at the plants occur.
  • Support supplier management, including ongoing contract management and control, collation of performance data (through supervising supplier performance data collection and analysis), and plan and complete supplier meetings.
  • Identify, select, and handle key suppliers for continuous improvement through rigorous cost and value analysis across circa $700m spend.

Requirements

  • University degree and equivalent work experience, in an appropriate technical and commercial field.
  • Direct raw material category experience in global businesses.
  • Advanced sourcing methodologies and tools.
  • Lubricants industry experience is an added advantage however open to FMCG/Commodities industries.
  • Shown competence of working in multiple regions with cross functional partners.
  • Shown expertise to Lead negotiations with strategic suppliers and deliver value to the business.
  • Contract Negotiations and Management experiences.
  • Senior partner management experiences.
  • Supplier Relationship and Performance Management experiences.
  • Shown Commercial competence.
  • Sound Financial Management of the Category.
