About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design electrical and control panels for liquid cooling system products using high and low voltages
- Work with mechanical, refrigeration, and manufacturing engineers through the full product development process from concept through production support
- Select electrical components
- Create schematics and wire run lists
- Design control solutions, including functional control logic and PID control loops for temperature, flow, and pressure
- Develop PCBA/PLC control firmware directly or collaborate with a software engineer
- Test and debug systems with the full engineering team
- Ensure electrical hardware and firmware meet functional and performance requirements and deliverables are on schedule and budget
- Develop control system architectures
- Implement control algorithms that adjust cooling capacity using real-time data
- Integrate sensors, controllers, and actuators
- Create and update electrical schematics and control diagrams
- Program and configure controllers and develop HMI interfaces
- Commission, test, and validate control systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues
- Participate in cross-functional design reviews
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and budgeting for data center cooling projects and retrofits
- Maintain documentation for control system designs and programming changes
- Support and troubleshoot production cooling systems
- Develop and execute verification test plans
- Ensure cooling control systems comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations, including UL/CE guidelines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in designing, programming, and maintaining control systems
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and integration of sensor networks
- Working experience with communications protocols, i.e. RS-232, RS-485, ethernet, SNMP, REST API, etc.
- Strong understanding of control systems, automation, and cooling fundamentals (thermal management, airflow, and load balancing)
- Proficient in creating and interpreting electrical schematics and control logic diagrams
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams
- Working knowledge of PLM software
- Working knowledge of MRP software; Oracle Cloud a plus
- Knowledgeable/experienced in working with mixed-signal oscilloscopes and DVMs
