About the role
- Establish and maintain purchase information records and regularly analyze BOM cost structures at the commodity and functional group levels.
- Ensure BOM costs integrated into financial forecasts are accurate, complete, and reflect risks and opportunities identified by sourcing, logistics, and engineering teams.
- Partner with the Inventory Accounting team to recommend and implement expense recognition policies (e.g., cost roll, standard cost amortization) and drive alignment on inventory valuation methodologies to ensure GAAP compliance and accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinate with Product and Operations teams to set, review, and update standard costs in alignment with key business milestones such as new product introductions or cost reduction initiatives.
- Support cost review forums and standard cost updates.
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving standard costing processes, tools, and system effectiveness across the supply chain and finance functions.
- Oversee and perform ROI analysis for investments in sustaining products—including both COGS and capital expenditures (CAPEX) such as capacity expansions, consolidations, and design changes.
- Evaluate financial impacts of key supply chain initiatives and provide actionable insights.
- Support month-end and quarter-end close processes by performing actual vs. forecast analyses for COGS accounts (e.g., QoQ, YoY, forecast-to-forecast).
- Identify variance drivers and incorporate business context to support financial reporting and management insights.
- Develop a deep understanding of finished goods flow and planning processes at Sonos.
- Utilize key planning inputs such as the Supply Plan, DC receipts, and Demand Forecast to support financial modeling and operational analyses.
- Leverage technology to improve forecasting accuracy and efficiency, including driving improvements through Anaplan, Tableau, and other finance systems in partnership with Operations Finance and Tech teams.
- Act as a finance partner for business cases and decision support related to supply chain initiatives and contract negotiations.
- Responsibilities include reviewing agreements for policy compliance, quantifying financial exposure, and evaluating risks and benefits.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a technology-related field OR Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Minimum 4 years of experience in FP&A, inventory accounting, or a related finance role
- Strong understanding of GAAP, gross margin drivers, and familiarity with both P&L and balance sheet structures
- Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional business partners and managing operating budgets
- At least 2 years of experience supporting supply chain functions within a multinational consumer products, technology, or manufacturing company
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize large datasets and extract insights using analytical tools
- Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, including the ability to build robust financial models
- Strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset, especially around processes and systems
- Prior experience with financial forecasting tools (e.g., Anaplan), ERP systems (e.g., SAP), and data visualization tools such as Tableau, SAP Analytics Cloud, or MicroStrategy
