About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist with development of strategic coding communication and education plans
  • Develop coding content-specific, competency-based, and operational-based communication and educational deliverables
  • Create presentations, learning materials, handbooks, and other training materials
  • Lead training sessions on current medical billing and coding information
  • Mentor physicians and provide performance feedback to a third-party vendor
  • Advise the Physician Group and Revenue Cycle staff on coding and documentation principles
  • Manage communication and coding training delivery for leadership teams and end-users
  • Deliver training through instructor-led, train-the-trainer, virtual classroom, webcast, and web-based methods
  • Maintain coding training materials
  • Review and respond to coding questions
  • Perform random chart audits
  • Maintain confidentiality and perform other assigned duties
  • Adhere to BMC RESPECT behavioral standards

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of formal education and experience
  • Must hold CCS, CCS-P, CPC®, or CPC-H® credential through AHIMA or AAPC
  • Three years of experience in E/M and/or surgical coding plus reimbursement activities
  • Clinical background and previous chart abstraction experience preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Time management and organizational skills
  • Self-directed with ability to make quality, independent decisions
  • Analytical and strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, high volumes, and multiple interruptions
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Competency using various computer hardware and software systems
  • Excellent command of ICD-10, HCPCS, CPT coding conventions, and E&M coding
  • Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Must complete a background check before employment
  • Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu and receive a COVID-19 booster dose
