About the role

  • Responsible for Revenue Accounting operations and systems, analysis and report preparation, and maintaining documentation and improvements of policies, processes, and internal controls around Revenue and related Balance Sheet accounts
  • Prepare and collaborate on revenue fluctuation analyses and deferred revenue reconciliations at month-end
  • Work closely with Finance, Sales, Legal, and Operations to create, implement, evolve, and report on processes and metrics around Accounts Receivable, Contract Assets and Liabilities, and Revenue
  • Sustain and manage a team to effectively handle change, people, systems, and processes specific to revenue recognition
  • Oversee processes to ensure timeliness and accuracy of revenue activities, leveraging automation and technology
  • Maintain and establish internal controls, develop and implement remediation activities to address gaps and audit findings
  • Evaluate contracts, non-standard terms, and contract modifications to determine accurate revenue recognition
  • Review reconciliations of general ledger accounts and ensure reconciling differences are explained and resolved
  • Stay informed on US GAAP policies and best practices and implement training/procedures to ensure compliance
  • Recommend and implement modifications to improve financial processes and automate manual processes
  • Serve as primary point of contact for contract or revenue recognition related activities for internal customers, senior leadership, auditors, and other stakeholders
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and P&L documentation for submission to leadership
  • Supervise staff including coaching, career discussions, selection recommendations, disciplinary actions, approving assignments and leave, and ensuring training is provided

Requirements

  • CPA Certification required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience (ideally Big 4 Audit plus corporate revenue accounting or equivalent corporate revenue accounting experience)
  • Demonstrated increase of responsibilities and leadership, preferably in the technology industry
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experienced knowledge and understanding of ASC606 including SaaS revenue recognition, accounting for contract modifications, and non-standard terms
  • Successful track record of improving processes and procedures
  • Familiarity with Intacct, Workday Financials, and Salesforce is strongly preferred
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with revenue and accounting concepts related to the SaaS industry is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented and intensely deadline-driven environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote-first environment
  • Ability to prioritize projects, analyze and simplify/automate processes for efficiency
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information and strong business ethics
