About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Obtain patients' clinical history and appropriate lab work, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner
- Position and immobilize patients to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability and comfort
- Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others
- Perform radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment and associated accessories
- Verify informed consent and complete pre- and post-procedure documentation
- Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures
- Apply appropriate aseptic surgical technique as needed
- Perform timeouts as required by policy
- Identify, prepare, and/or administer medications or contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
- Perform other job-related duties as required by the supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associates from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)
- Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)
- State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
- BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
- 1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred)
- Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred)
- Patient-centered care
