About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Obtain patients' clinical history and appropriate lab work, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner
Position and immobilize patients to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability and comfort
Apply radiation protection principles to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others
Perform radiographic procedures by selecting and operating imaging equipment and associated accessories
Verify informed consent and complete pre- and post-procedure documentation
Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized radiography procedures
Apply appropriate aseptic surgical technique as needed
Perform timeouts as required by policy
Identify, prepare, and/or administer medications or contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner
Perform other job-related duties as required by the supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Associates from an ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) accredited institute (preferred)
Certification and Registration with ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) in Diagnostic Radiology (required)
State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
1 year experience in radiation safety and patient care (preferred)
Experience with Radiology Information System (preferred)
Patient-centered care
Ability to monitor patient conditions during examination
Ability to record patient medical histories
Experience working within an interdisciplinary team
