About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work closely with the primary care physician to deliver excellent patient care
- Review and update health records
- Measure vital signs, including pulse rate, respiration, blood pressure, weight, and height
- Prepare treatment rooms for upcoming examinations
- Greet patients and the community respectfully
- Prepare and review patient charts for upcoming visits
- Verify diagnostic test results, hospital reports, and other medical records are correct and up to date
- Perform clerical duties, including checking inventory, stocking supplies, tracking referrals, and answering phones
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Degree or GED
- Active Medical Assisting certification from one of the following (required within 12 months of start date): Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); Registered Medical Assistant (RMA); Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA); Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA); National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- If unable to obtain MA certification, an Assessment-Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) is acceptable (not accepted in the state of South Carolina)
- BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
- Possesses problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
