About the role
- The Occupational Therapist plays a crucial role in enhancing patients' ability to perform daily tasks related to work and life.
- They conduct assessments, devise treatment plans based on physician referrals, and document patient progress.
- This encompasses outpatient, inpatient, pediatric, and off-site settings.
- Review physician referrals and patient medical history to determine therapy needs.
- Conduct and document patient evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatment plans according to department protocols.
- Administer prescribed occupational therapy treatments and create custom equipment for individual needs.
- Develop programs focusing on functional skills, vocational training, daily activities, and motor skills.
- Monitor progress and adjust treatment goals and plans as necessary, participating in patient care conferences.
- Educate patients and families on at-home treatment procedures.
Requirements
- Licensed Occupational Therapist in the state of current practice or meet all qualifications for traineeship or temporary license in the state of current practice (required)
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, required within 30 days for BSMH, required at hire for RSFH)
- 2 years of experience in equivalent setting (preferred)
- Demonstrates appropriate application of age specific standards, policies and procedures and guidelines in caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients
- Demonstrates general computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management.
- Analytical abilities to evaluate patient condition, capabilities and progress.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with co-workers, physicians, patients and families.
- Requires the ability to work well with all levels of patients, the public and other health care professionals.
- Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
