About the role
- Defines requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes used in engineering design, manufacture, and maintenance for Commercial Derivative Military Aircraft
- Advise stakeholders on properties and fabrication of metal and composite parts and chemical materials/processes (paints, sealants, etc.)
- Defines and leads contamination control for tools, equipment, materials, parts, and processes
- Support structural/mechanical M&P engineering; assist with drawing review of structural components
- Incorporate M&P best practices for Military Aircraft systems manufacturing
- Partner with suppliers, build/fab teams, design IPTs to review contamination approaches and implementation
- Act as Lead Contamination Engineer for drawing review, specification requirements and interpretation
- Evaluate emerging technologies for potential application
- Perform routine tests and audits to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements
- Conduct routine analysis to determine performance or process challenges and apply statistical analysis
- Assist in implementing corrective and preventive actions
- Use project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements
- Incorporate environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into processes, research, design, qualification, work procedures and labs
- Collect, organize, synthesize, analyze data; summarize findings and provide recommendations
- Use and maintain analytical laboratory instruments (e.g., pH meter, turbidimeter, balances, ICP, GC, GC/MS, FTIR, GFAA, Auto Analyzer)
- Make customers and their needs a primary focus and provide products/services meeting technical and quality standards
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 5+ years of materials or chemical engineering experience in a related technical field
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
- U.S. Person required for export control compliance (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
- Experience with materials/chemical engineering for metals, polymers, composites, electronics (preferred)
- Knowledge of corrosion principles, material processing, sealants and finishes, organic/inorganic chemical processes (preferred)
- Ability to use analytical laboratory instruments (e.g., pH meter, turbidimeter, ICP, GC, GC/MS, FTIR)
- Ability to perform statistical analysis concepts (normal distribution, standard deviations, mean, probability, confidence levels)
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Ability to obtain and use project management tools
- Drug testing (post-offer) and compliance with drug-free workplace policies
- Ability to work 1st shift and onsite at Tukwila WA locations
