Materials & Processes (M&P) engineer is needed to support the goals and objectives of the various Boeing commercial programs (737/767/777/787) and projects being conducted by Boeing Technology Innovation (BTI) Materials and Process Engineering in China.
We are looking for a composite engineer who can work collaboratively on multiple technical field ( e.g. Composite raw material and part manufacturing, and relevant material and part testing etc.) and act as the company representative at suppliers, sub-tier suppliers, and academic premises.
Interface with stakeholders in Boeing procurement and quality organizations and Boeing Suppliers to ensure M&P support is integrated with airplane schedule and rate requirements.
Support Supply Chain composite part qualification project milestones monitor and coordinate technical stakeholders working on the aligned project goal.
Lead and participate root-cause and corrective action activities with suppliers to ensure manufacturing processes and manufactured parts meeting engineering and regulatory requirements
Lead and initiate technology and process optimizations to drive continuous improvement on quality and safety, and to reduce production costs and flows
Develop suppliers to ensure materials, processes and equipment readiness.
Support qualification & audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable engineering requirements
Support Boeing BCA Supply Chain stability and security thru execution on China 2nd source or China risk mitigation program (737, 777X, and 787 composites parts moved out from Boeing Tianjin Composites (BTC) to Boeing Composites Malaysia (BCM) and other suppliers in the APAC region.
Supplier capability and risk evaluation for various new work movement composite part packages bid by China region suppliers
Work with US BCA M&P initiative teams (BCA Materials and Processes Engineering) on Work Movement Risk Review (WMRR)
Regular Qualified Product/Process List (QPL) oversight to ensure supply chain stability and low risk
Support localization of materials relevant to Non-metal (including ACT honeycomb localization and Lanti-an PVF localization project) in China
Actively engage composite lab management and relevant test coordination
Lead high Technical Readiness Level Research & Development (R&D) trials in production environments to develop and valid new materials, processes and technologies
Requirements
Engineering and/or Science degree of Bachelor or above in Material Science, Material Engineering or similar degrees.
Have a minimum of 10 years proven working experience on commercial airplane composite materials, parts, or processes with OEM and/or suppliers
Sound technical and domain experience in at least one technology area in prepreg (carbon and fiberglass) laminate and composite sandwich structure manufacturing (prepreg cutting, layup, and autoclave curing), machining, and NDI inspection etc.
Solid knowledge on aramid, adhesives, thermoset/thermoplastic resins etc composite raw material.
Excellent written and oral communication skills both in English and Chinese
Ability to lead and develop multidiscipline and geographically dispersed team
Strong project management skills with ability to manage and lead multiple projects with high level quality and minimal guidance
Ability to lead root-cause and corrective action in a structured manner
Strong leadership and ability to proactively develop and improve current M&P and manufacturing processes
Excellent technical and analytic skills
