About the role
- You’ll be working on a diverse range of exciting projects, in support of a wide range of Australian and regional maritime programs, both for new construction (such as the current Royal Australian Navy surface ship programs) and for sustaining and upgrading current ships of the RAN Fleet and for regional Navies.
- Perform specialist mechanical design and engineering in support of the integration of equipment and systems on naval vessels.
- Provide mechanical engineering support and guidance within whole of ship design teams involving all technical disciplines of Naval Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical and Combat Systems integration.
- Undertake engineering projects from engineering investigations, through design concepts and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) interaction, all the way through preliminary and detail design to production implementation and customer acceptance.
- Represent the company on a professional and technical basis with our Defence/Navy clients, with our customers within the defence Industry and with the broader Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and system supplier community.
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of designing mechanical and marine components and systems.
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Well-developed problem diagnosis and solving skills.
- Effective time management skills and strong attention to detail.
- The motivation and drive to develop your technical capabilities within a highly supportive, multi-discipline engineering environment.
- Due to the nature of the work, you must be an Australian Citizen to be eligible for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
- The selection process for this role will include pre-employment screening including a Police Records Check.
