About the role

  • Senior Manager of Payment Processing to lead and evolve the payments function for the personal loan line of business.
  • Lead the end-to-end payment processing function for personal loans, including ACH, card payments, wires, and other payment methods.
  • Oversee daily reconciliation, exception handling, and resolution of payment discrepancies.
  • Establish and enforce SLAs, KPIs, and quality standards to ensure operational excellence.
  • Manage relationships with key payment processors, banks, and third-party vendors.
  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize payment platforms, AI tools, and automation solutions to increase efficiency and reduce risk.
  • Partner with IT and Product to ensure seamless integration between core systems and payment platforms.
  • Ensure payment processing practices adhere to applicable laws, NACHA rules, card network regulations, and internal compliance requirements.
  • Develop and monitor internal controls to prevent fraud, errors, and unauthorized transactions.
  • Work closely with Risk, Compliance, and Finance teams to address regulatory inquiries and audits.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of payment operations specialists and analysts.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and operational discipline.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of payment processing or payment operations experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in personal loans or consumer lending (preferred), banking, or fintech.
  • Demonstrated success managing vendor relationships and negotiating service-level agreements.
  • Proven ability to implement automation/AI tools in an operational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of NACHA rules, card network operating regulations, and applicable consumer lending laws.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience in both a mature corporate environment and a high-growth fintech or startup.
  • Hands-on experience with common payment vendors/processors (e.g., Fiserv, FIS, Stripe, Plaid, Dwolla) and reconciliation platforms.
  • Track record of building or transforming a payments function from the ground up.
