About the role

  • Own the process and analysis of market strategy for BlueWave, including new market opportunities
  • Develop strategic view on approach to new markets based on assessment of prospective project economics
  • Author new market entry plans with input from teams including Policy, Capital Markets, Site Acquisition, and Development
  • Spend time in-market to identify opportunities, initiate key relationships and develop market entry plans
  • Collaborate closely with Policy team on policy positions and key relationships
  • Drive financial analysis of policy positions and alternatives
  • Originate offtake including community solar subscriber acquisition, solar anchor offtake acquisition, and storage and solar PPAs
  • Optimize revenue with a keen understanding of risk and mitigations
  • Develop and maintain understanding of customer acquisition and service providers in BlueWave’s core markets
  • Procure, negotiate, and execute community solar customer acquisition and management services with third-party vendors
  • Manage vendor agreements and relationships over time in collaboration with the Asset Management team

Requirements

  • 10+ years of strategy/market development/origination/competitive retail experience, with a particular focus on renewable energy
  • Consulting background is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, energy systems, finance, or related field
  • Familiarity with state renewable energy programs in Massachusetts, New York, and Illinois is a plus
  • Proven ability to develop relationships, negotiate complex agreements and effectively manage vendor relationships
  • Experience working with internal and external legal counsel to move efficiently through the contracting process
  • Sound understanding of the renewable energy project development process
  • Analytical and financial modeling within Excel and proficiency with the total Microsoft Office suite
  • Familiarity with complex concepts (tax rules, energy policy, financial structures, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Self-motivated mindset with a high level of initiative and commercial acumen
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time for in-person business development meetings, conferences and other networking opportunities
  • Ability to perform site visits as needed
