About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the strategy, architecture, service design and delivery quality of the MSP's networking practice across a multi-tenant client base
- Establish a standardised, secure and automatable networking fabric spanning campus, data centre, cloud and edge
- Set reference architectures and govern the vendor stack
- Mature network automation and observability
- Ensure the networking practice scales efficiently while maintaining predictable margins and measurable service outcomes
- Review the current MPLS platform, network architecture and risk register
- Design, architect and implement the next-generation network with major stakeholders
- Lead the network automation transformation to improve efficiency, client time to value and risk management
- Conduct capacity planning for organic and exceptional growth
- Participate in pre-sales and provide solutions for client opportunities
- Engage in opportunity and win strategies with business stakeholders
- Ensure proposed client solutions are feasible and aligned with core network platforms
- Participate in the Change Advisory Board and assess core network platform changes
- Maintain the core network risk register and ensure mitigation plans are actioned
- Develop network platform metrics and reports for executive, business and IT management
- Maintain knowledge of organisational technologies and architectures
- Develop and maintain current-state and planned-state architectural blueprints
- Assess enterprise architecture and infrastructure initiatives' impact on service-provider platforms
- Advise on technology vendor and solution decisions
- Develop total-cost-of-ownership models for business cases
- Respond to major incidents during and outside business hours as required
- Cultivate relationships with management across the business
- Provide technical mentoring and leadership to engineering staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- Substantial senior experience in enterprise or service-provider networking, ideally in an MSP or multi-tenant environment
- Demonstrable leadership or design-authority experience
- Deep, current expertise in SASE, SD-WAN, ZTNA, campus, data centre and cloud networking
- Proven experience designing and operating multi-tenant managed network services at scale
- Strong network automation and infrastructure-as-code experience, with a preference for standardisation
- Experience owning major-incident response and SLA-based service-quality outcomes
- Understanding of Essential Eight and ISO 27001 security and compliance frameworks
- Experience leading, mentoring and growing technical teams
- Excellent client-facing communication skills
- Required tertiary education such as an Advanced Diploma, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience
- CCIE certification or equivalent experience
- Hands-on knowledge of SASE/SSE, ZTNA, SD-WAN, secure web gateways and CASB integration
- Enterprise switching, Wi-Fi 6E/7, cloud-managed networking and AIOps-driven fabrics
- Data-centre L2/L3 fabrics, EVPN-VXLAN, overlay/underlay design, firewalling and load balancing
- Azure and AWS networking, hub-and-spoke and virtual WAN topologies, cloud-native connectivity and hybrid interconnect
- BGP, OSPF, VLANs/VRFs, QoS and multicast fundamentals
- Infrastructure-as-code, configuration management, network telemetry, flow analytics, AIOps and full-stack correlation
- Ubuntu Server, Docker containers, NMS infrastructure, TACACS, RADIUS, Syslog, Grafana and time-series databases
- Availability to respond to major incidents during and outside business hours as required
- Employment subject to National Police Checking Service
