About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Reviewing clinical documentation as appropriate to extract data and accurately assign proper facility level CPT based on set algorithm and coding metrics
- Under the supervision of the HIM Coding Manager, perform duties assigned that include excellent communication, accurate leveling and data entry
- Accurately assign appropriate facility levels and procedure codes for all ED/OBS service within accordance of the CPT and CMS guidelines
- Communicate effectively with providers/office manager/auditors/billing department to ensure the highest level of service is being captured
- Review providers dictation as needed to ensure all documentation is accurate
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- CPC Certification
- Two or more years of E/M leveling experience and at least one year of procedural coding experience
- Prior experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or related service-oriented environment
- Familiarity with Augusta Health’s systems, workflows, or organizational culture is a plus
- Requires good written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrates competency in the use of computer applications and coding software
