About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Reviewing clinical documentation as appropriate to extract data and accurately assign proper facility level CPT based on set algorithm and coding metrics
Under the supervision of the HIM Coding Manager, perform duties assigned that include excellent communication, accurate leveling and data entry
Accurately assign appropriate facility levels and procedure codes for all ED/OBS service within accordance of the CPT and CMS guidelines
Communicate effectively with providers/office manager/auditors/billing department to ensure the highest level of service is being captured
Review providers dictation as needed to ensure all documentation is accurate

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
CPC Certification
Two or more years of E/M leveling experience and at least one year of procedural coding experience
Prior experience in a hospital, healthcare system, or related service-oriented environment
Familiarity with Augusta Health’s systems, workflows, or organizational culture is a plus
Requires good written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
Demonstrates competency in the use of computer applications and coding software
