About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Utilize your expertise in ANSYS Workbench to conduct comprehensive Finite Element Analyses (FEM), including, but not limited to, strength, fatigue, fracture, modal, and random vibration assessments on turbomachinery hardware.
  • Construct and interpret free body diagrams to effectively analyze and solve structural challenges.
  • Apply your understanding of Blue Origin’s structural command media to assess non-conformances on the BE-4 Main Turbopump components.
  • Review spin-start component and assembly drawings, providing feedback to ensure designs adhere to Blue Origin’s engineering, safety and performance standards.
  • Recommend and implement design modifications based on structural analysis results to improve performance and reliability.
  • Engage with design teams, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to ensure structural considerations are incorporated into the released definition of turbomachinery hardware, and subsequent iterations.
  • Will play a key role in helping with the development of process / best practice guidelines, and provide technical leadership / help skill development for the rest of the engineering team.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting complex data and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Excellent Technical writing and documentation of results and rationale.
  • Experience in reviewing technical drawings and providing structural input for design modifications.
  • Proven expertise in ANSYS Workbench and advanced understanding of strength, fatigue, fracture (NASGRO), modal, and random vibration analysis.
  • Ability to adapt existing analysis and problem solving skills to assess non-conforming hardware and establish the appropriate rationale for production flight hardware (Scrap, Use As Is, Repair etc…).
  • Adept in constructing free body diagrams to facilitate structural evaluations.
