About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and decompose component and lower-level functional and performance requirements
- Coordinate with Integration & Test personnel on the development and execution of requirements verification and validation
- Coordinate with safety engineers to evaluate hardware criticality and inform design assurance and certification needs for various hardware items
- Develop and maintain hardware budgets and key technical performance measures
- Utilize Systems Engineering, PLM, and collaboration tools such as JAMA, JIRA, Confluence, Windchill, Creo, and SharePoint
- Perform configuration management of systems engineering artifacts, including leading peer reviews and audits of engineering documentation
- Support trade studies and supply knowledge to help guide design implementation
- Facilitate and lead key milestone reviews across the full lifecycle of hardware development
- Identify and fix gaps in existing process, tools, infrastructure, and continually improve solutions along the way
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics
- Applied knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices such as requirements development, validation, and verification
- 2+ years of proven industry experience in the development of electronic hardware
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and supply to a culture of collaboration
- Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
- M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical subject area (desired)
- 4+ years of space systems engineering or fungible experience in other highly complex industry areas (desired)
- Experience in design, analysis, test, operation, and/or certification of aerospace safety critical systems (desired)
- Experience with software tools such as JAMA, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill (desired)
- Experience with end-to-end product development, from concept definition to hardware integration (desired)
- Experience with complex electronic hardware and software certification in accordance with DO-254, DO-178, and/or similar design assurance standards (desired)
- Strong system safety and mission assurance fundamentals (desired)
