About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and qualify materials and processes for liquid rocket engine applications
Work with design, manufacturing and process engineers to implement and optimize materials for performance and cost
Identify and apply mature state-of-the-art processes to manufacturing and develop process control documentation and quality assurance measures
Develop materials test plans process and materials evaluation/qualification
Own process and repair qualification across the development and production lifecycle
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for special processes
Support day-to-day manufacturing through non-conformance disposition, manufacturing floor support, etc.

Requirements

What you’ll need

B .S. degree or higher in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
Internship experience focused on materials and processes with an emphasis on materials design, process development, implementation, and/or qualification
Exposure to definition and qualification of special processes such as welding, casting, forging, additive, or similar
Experience working with Ni-based alloys, Cu-based alloys, and/or other materials common in aerospace propulsion manufacturing
Ability to collect and analyze data and present results in a meaningful format
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Demonstrated experience with materials and process development and qualification (Desired)
In-depth understanding of materials/process relationships (Desired)
Familiarity with a wide variety of manufacturing processes (additive, casting, forging) and their impact on joining techniques (Desired)
Experience with failure and forensic analysis of aerospace or other complex hardware (Desired)
Experience evaluating and interpreting NDT inspection results (Desired)
Understanding of quality standards, industrial codes, and/or material specifications (Desired)
