About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and qualify materials and processes for liquid rocket engine applications
  • Work with design, manufacturing and process engineers to implement and optimize materials for performance and cost
  • Identify and apply mature state-of-the-art processes to manufacturing and develop process control documentation and quality assurance measures
  • Develop materials test plans process and materials evaluation/qualification
  • Own process and repair qualification across the development and production lifecycle
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for special processes
  • Support day-to-day manufacturing through non-conformance disposition, manufacturing floor support, etc.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • B .S. degree or higher in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • Internship experience focused on materials and processes with an emphasis on materials design, process development, implementation, and/or qualification
  • Exposure to definition and qualification of special processes such as welding, casting, forging, additive, or similar
  • Experience working with Ni-based alloys, Cu-based alloys, and/or other materials common in aerospace propulsion manufacturing
  • Ability to collect and analyze data and present results in a meaningful format
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Demonstrated experience with materials and process development and qualification (Desired)
  • In-depth understanding of materials/process relationships (Desired)
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of manufacturing processes (additive, casting, forging) and their impact on joining techniques (Desired)
  • Experience with failure and forensic analysis of aerospace or other complex hardware (Desired)
  • Experience evaluating and interpreting NDT inspection results (Desired)
  • Understanding of quality standards, industrial codes, and/or material specifications (Desired)
