About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the design and development of pressure vessels, piping systems, and mechanical components
Ensure full adherence to codes and standards
Serve as the technical authority for code compliance
Work across multiple projects to develop safe, reliable, and compliant mechanical systems
Perform detailed engineering calculations including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and pressure equipment sizing
Develop comprehensive technical specifications, design criteria, and engineering drawings
Create and maintain code data reports, design documentation, and compliance records
Review and approve vendor submissions for code compliance
Develop inspection and testing plans that meet requirements
Support certification and recertification activities
Evaluate non-conformances and develop technically sound resolution strategies
Guide manufacturing teams on code-compliant fabrication techniques and requirements
Mentor junior engineers on code application and compliance practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
8+ years of mechanical design experience with at least 5 years focused on ASME code-compliant equipment
Proficiency in GD&T principles per ASME Y14.5
Experience with engineering calculations for pressure-containing equipment
Strong CAD skills with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or similar)
Experience with FEA tools for stress analysis and structural validation
Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply code requirements to complex design problems
Experience working with quality assurance programs for pressure equipment
Knowledge of material selection considerations for various operating conditions
Familiarity with NDE methods and acceptance criteria
Excellent technical writing and communication skills
Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
