About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the design and development of pressure vessels, piping systems, and mechanical components
- Ensure full adherence to codes and standards
- Serve as the technical authority for code compliance
- Work across multiple projects to develop safe, reliable, and compliant mechanical systems
- Perform detailed engineering calculations including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and pressure equipment sizing
- Develop comprehensive technical specifications, design criteria, and engineering drawings
- Create and maintain code data reports, design documentation, and compliance records
- Review and approve vendor submissions for code compliance
- Develop inspection and testing plans that meet requirements
- Support certification and recertification activities
- Evaluate non-conformances and develop technically sound resolution strategies
- Guide manufacturing teams on code-compliant fabrication techniques and requirements
- Mentor junior engineers on code application and compliance practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
- 8+ years of mechanical design experience with at least 5 years focused on ASME code-compliant equipment
- Proficiency in GD&T principles per ASME Y14.5
- Experience with engineering calculations for pressure-containing equipment
- Strong CAD skills with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, NX, CATIA, or similar)
- Experience with FEA tools for stress analysis and structural validation
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply code requirements to complex design problems
- Experience working with quality assurance programs for pressure equipment
- Knowledge of material selection considerations for various operating conditions
- Familiarity with NDE methods and acceptance criteria
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
